Canmore Dog Parks

Quarry Lake Dog Park

This is by far the most popular park of them all. Plenty of parking, a 1km loop trail and gorgeous mountains that surround the park. Keep in mind, this park is not fenced in so best to keep a close eye on your pooch.

Cougar Creek/Highway 1A Dog Park

Got a runner? The kind that likes to run and not come back? Check out Cougar Creek, it has a four-foot, fully fenced in park with plenty of area for your dog to run around.

Dog Walkers

Unfortunately, we can’t bring our dog everywhere, and while Canmore is a dog-friendly place, it’s best to leave them at home sometimes. Having a good dog walking service on hand allows you to be a little more flexible with your schedule.  Here’s a list of Canmore dog walking services that you can call on.

Mountain Mutts

Mountain Mutts is an off-leash dog walking service. They focus on small groups of 6 or less per dog walker. The 3-6 km hike sees that your dog is led on a safe and happy hike. They’ll even send over some pictures of your dog once they’re finished the hike!

At Your Bark and Call

This service offers everything from dog walks, training, and home visits. They’ll even come to your home and do yard maintenance and clean up after your dog! This family run business has been around since 1995. At Your Bark and Call is a WildSmart company which means they only use designated off leash parks for group walks.

Adventure Tails

Adventure Tails is the only dog walking service in Canmore that is certified in Pet First Aid & CPR. They even have a van that is divided into dog compartments so that your dog gets to ride in his own space. It’s pretty clear this company has got you and your dog covered. You can book online with them here.

Dog Food Stores

Your dog is a big part of the family, so it’s important we feed them what they know and what they like. Don’t worry about not being able to get your favourite brand because Canmore boasts 3 pet food stores to shop from.

Pet Planet

Even if you don’t need pet food, you should visit them on Saturday’s! Every Saturday the store features dogs from Pawsitive Match in finding them a forever home. Get the full details here.

Purely Pets

This pet food store in Canmore is a good stop for all different brands, but what we love is that each week they feature a Canadian brand of dog food. Be sure to like them on facebook so you can keep in the know on their weekly sales.

Mut Hut

Feel like spoiling your pup? The Mut Hut features a bakery for dogs! You can even buy them hand painted and decorated cookies made with peanut butter and beef. Talk about being spoiled!

Veterinarian Clinics

Canmore Veterinary Clinic

This clinic has been operating in the Bow Valley for over 40 years. Full services from 24-hour care, check-ups, grooming and boarding are offered. They have two locations, one in Canmore, and one in Banff.

Bow River Veterinary Clinic

This clinic can provide 24-hour care, behavioural training, x-rays, lab services and more. A full retail shop will also make sure that your pup has all they need in their new town, Canmore.

When you first arrive in Canmore, you’re going to need to register and pay for a license for your dog. Currently the fee is $55 per year, and a hefty fine if you get caught without a dog license.

Don’t skip out on the fee, these fees help Canmore keep places like the Quarry Lake Dog Park open and well maintained.

They also help keep the dogs information like appearance, microchip info, tattoo, etc. on file and can help assist in identifying your dog in case they ever go missing.
